Tapered Roller Bearings

Tapered roller bearings feature tapered rollers and matching tapered raceways on the inner and outer rings. The taper lines of the raceways and the rolling axis of the tapered rollers intersect at some point on the bearing axis. The inner ring is called the cone and the outer ring the cup because of their respective shapes. The cone has roller-supporting flanges whereas the cup is flange-less and as a result these bearings are separable.

The design of the tapered roller bearings allow them to carry simultaneous radial and axial loads. The axial load carrying capacity of tapered roller bearings increases with increasing taper angle.

Single Row Tapered Roller Bearings

Single row tapered roller bearings feature single set of tapered raceways and tapered rollers. Since the cup is flange-less, these bearings can carry axial load in one direction only.

Double Row Tapered Roller Bearings

Double row tapered roller bearings feature two sets of tapered raceways and tapered rollers, and therefore have higher load carrying capacities and higher stiffness. Furthermore, the raceways and rollers on the two rows are tapered in opposite direction so they can carry axial loads in both the directions.

Depending on the taper direction of the raceway and roller rows, MEGA double row tapered roller bearings are available in the following two designs:

TDI :- Bearings in this design have the two rows of tapered rollers and raceways arranged back-to-back. They have two outer rings or cups and one double row inner ring or cone. Generally, a cup spacer is placed between the two outer rings to provide certain axial clearance or preload.
TDO :- Bearings in this design have the two rows of tapered rollers and raceways arranged face-to-face. They have one double row outer ring or cup and two inner ring or cones. Generally, a cone spacer is placed between the two inner rings to provide certain axial clearance or preload.

Four-Row Tapered Roller Bearings

Four-row tapered roller bearings feature four sets of tapered raceways and tapered rollers, and therefore have very high load carrying capacities and very high stiffness. Furthermore, the raceways and rollers on the four rows are tapered in alternating direction so they can carry axial loads in both the directions.

Depending on the taper direction of the raceway and roller rows, MEGA four row tapered roller bearings are available in the following two designs:

TQI :- Bearings in this design have the two sets of rows of tapered rollers and raceways arranged back-to-back. They have three outer rings or cups and two double row inner rings or cones. Generally, a cup spacer is placed between the outer rings and a cone spacer is place between the inner rings to provide certain axial clearance or preload.
TQO :- Bearings in this design have the two sets of rows of tapered rollers and raceways arranged face-to-face. They have two double row outer rings or cups and three inner rings or cones. Generally, a cup spacer is placed between the outer rings and a cone spacer is place between the inner rings to provide certain axial clearance or preload.
